How does TV influence us?
Television has become a common household item. Every second millions of TV’s are showing shows from CNN, BBC or DR1. There are so many different channels which are showing different movies, documentaries, news and reality shows. But how does television influence us?
For example if you are watching a donation fundraising campaign for fighting AIDS, which show pictures of people suffering. Then, automatically, will the viewer develop sympathy and thereby donate some money.
In many cartoons, where kids are the main focus group, the developers have tried to make the cartoons educational. Cartoons have been found to influence the behavior of children aged 6-12 more than school, as they can spend 38 hours weekly watching TV, while less than 30 in the classroom. That is also the reason why most cartoons are nonviolent.
If a person is watching the movie 8-Mile where Eminem is the protagonist and the viewer think he is reliable and like the way he behaves, then will the viewer maybe begin to imitate him. That can improve violence in society.
Many people get addicted to television. Then they just sit and watch TV the whole day. That cause that families become divided is because they sit in different rooms and watch their own channel. The children watch cartoons, the teenager watch series and the parents maybe watch a documentary. The many different programs and several tv´s in the home cause that people do not talk about the same program. in the home, at schools or at the office. You could say that television don not any longer give people joint adventures.
